I believe in the magic…

We soon must trade in our fallen leaves for falling snow. Yes, that first magical snow where you go to bed in one kind of world and wake up in a winter wonderland. Children are excited (Ask any classroom teacher today!) and adults are scurrying about getting prepared for the worse case scenario of a raging blizzard. Stock up on groceries, fuel, get the snow removal equipment  ready to go and the list goes on.

Whether we like it or not, I guess we all are excited about the first snowfall in our own little way. Call me delusional, but I prefer to believe in the magic…

At any moment, your whole life can change…

A simple encounter, a rare connection, a random act. Life is full of these moments that change our destiny forever.

Things end, but memories last forever.

The adventure begins…

September 1, 2016: Unfinished business awaits us as we begin our 2016 Camino de Santiago trek across northern Spain. We previously completed Astorga to Santiago and St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Zubiri, Spain, so it appears we have a little over 300 miles remaining. Click on the short “kick off” video as we begin our journey…

We stumble upon the Parish Church of Santa Lucia which has lived through the invasion of the Moors, the Spanish Inquisition, Napoleon’s crossing of the Pyrenees, two world wars and the Spanish Civil War.

It is rumored to be a Templar church and symbols contained in and around the building seem to confirm this. Few records exist so piecing the building’s story together is quite a challenge ~the abbey.es

The intent was to stay in Arre tonight but we seemed to have bypassed the path through that particular town and, before you know it, we’ve gone 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) and find ourselves in downtown Pamplona. Oh, well… plan B will be just fine and we have a head start on our hike tomorrow. We settle into our little room above a small bar and rest our weary bones.

Below are today’s top three photo picks:

4-H Changes Lives…

With the 2016 Minnesota State Fair opening today, August 25th, 4-H members that qualify for a state fair trip will be making their way to St. Paul during the next few days filled with anticipation for the “Super Bowl” of the 4-H world.  Many hours of creative thinking, problem solving and work have gone into the vast array of projects presented at this level. Why would anyone go through all of that work?

4-H changes lives, helping youth to become confident, mature adults ready to succeed in today’s challenging world. Studies show that youth participating in 4-H do better in school, are more motivated to help others, feel safe to try new things, and develop lasting friendships. ~Cornell University Cooperative Extension

Sounds like a good deal…

Where does the time go?

What a treat… Having spent quite a bit of time with his parents in fourth and fifth grade during the mid 1980’s, I experienced a flood of memories as I photographed and edited these images.  It’s always a great feeling to see former students turn into not only good citizens but fabulous parents, as well. Kudos to Trish & Jack…
