Take a Hike

Hiking through a tunnel along the Camino de Santiago. Image by Joyce Meyer. Edited in Topaz.

Winter arrived way too early in Minnesota this year and we are still in the midst of a pandemic. I guess I’ll just have to rely on one of the many lessons learned while hiking… embrace the suck.

The Silhouette

I have been photographing silhouettes for many years dating back to the days of film, yet never tire of them. Very simple in form while triggering  the emotions, drawing you into a deeper, more meaningful moment or romantic story. Capturing silhouettes with a camera is quite simple as long as you expose for the sky turn off your flash.

Camino Day 6: Torres del Rio to Logrono

September 6, 2016:  Scroll down for a short video with some Creedence Clearwater Revival plus proof that Joan can still stop traffic!

As you can see by the elevation map, we start the day with a hill work-out while the rest of the day appears to level out a little. However, the heat continues to sap our energy as we plod down the path.

We meet a friendly, interesting young man named Julio from California  sitting by the side of the road switching out socks due to blisters. Conversations flow throughout the day about observations and plans while on the Camino, as well as life, taking our minds off the heat. We often wonder about the rest of his journey to Santiago as we lose track due to a different pace as we do with many people we meet. A good lesson learned:   Live in the moment and make the best of it while you can.

We also meet a new friend, Julius, today and have been in touch with this talented photographer/animation artist from Poland living in Dublin. It was great to talk about photography with someone who understands me.

20160906_083733rWe find beds tonight in the Apostol Hostel in Logrono with a familiar scene on the wall of our room. I don’t think this means I can cross the Statue of Liberty off of my Bucket List.

Vimeo Versus YouTube

Best wishes to the class of 2016… Slide show and images by Joyce Meyer

Following is the link to the same size YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=C0_Ru2v0Zow

Both Vimeo and YouTube slide shows are the 960 x 540 option.  Both sites utilized the free plan option and were shared from IMovie.

So, what’s the difference between YouTube and Vimeo?

YouTube is owned by Google, and therefore by linking your YouTube content in with your Google My Business account is most likely to gain you some SEO points. YouTube and Google also give you the ability to stream videos live via Google Hangouts. On the other hand, your videos on YouTube will be subject to more ads and a more cluttered interface.

For businesses looking for higher quality video presentation there is Vimeo. Vimeo will allow you to upload your videos at a higher quality, and less distractions.

Imagine…

Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun.   ~ Don Miguel Ruiz
